Shelley Fine Bone China of England Thistle pattern 13820 tea cup & saucer created around 1950.
One of the most sought-after brands of tea ware is Shelley Pottery. Some Shelley tea sets are very collectable and distinctive. Shelley had such thorough quality control that their China patterns all matched, the colours were perfect and their pieces were incredibly durable. Together with this high standard of manufacturing, they were highly desirable.
This particular Shelley design, Thistle, was beautifully hand painted by the finest artisans of the day with purple & lilac flowers, green thistles & lilac unique scalloped edged trim.
The saucer is 5.75" in diameter. The cup is 2.5" high and is 3.5" from rim to rim.
This English teacup and saucer is a rare find & in excellent condition. It was carefully stored for years after being handed down to me from my grandmother.
